Join the Urban League of Nebraska as it celebrates its 90th Anniversary!
The one-night-only event will feature singer Brian McKnight.
McKnight has gained international and domestic recognition, earning himself a spot in contemporary music history. He has released 16 albums to date over the past 20 years, selling over 30 million albums worldwide, and receiving 16 Grammy nominations. In addition to being a singer, songwriter, and producer, he is an artist who needs no category for his music style and is a multi-instrumentalist who plays nine instruments including piano, guitar, bass, drums, percussions, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet.
During the celebration, the Urban League will also recognize two community leaders who are creating change in North Omaha!
The Charles B. Washington Award named after the local civil rights activist, journalist, and mentor will honor a leader who has brought awareness to issues affecting communities of color and is facilitating change in North Omaha.
The Whitney M. Young Jr. Award named after the national civil rights leader and social worker will honor a leader who is transforming our community by facilitating economic and community development in North Omaha. Mr. Young served as president of the Urban League of Nebraska in the 1950s and would eventually lead the National Urban League.
